Oldest Hand-Sewn Mediterranean Boat Found in Croatia
Perhaps I am alone here but I had no idea there was such a thing as a hand-sewn boat!
Apparently, a sewn boat is a type of wooden boat which is clinker built with its planks sewn, stitched, tied, or bound together with flexible wood. It’s thought this recent discovery dates back to the 12th and the end of the 10th century BC. Cool huh?

Is it a wacky invention, a bird, a plane or a boat? Well, according to Norway’s Elfly Group, it’s an amphibious eclectic flying boat.
Elfly Group believe a quiet, sustainable seaplane could revolutionise connectivity in Norway, replacing long road trips with short flights. She is called NoEmi for ‘No Emissions’ and the prototype is expected to be completed in 2025.
I don’t know about you, but I’d love it if my boat could also fly. Now we just need the wheels as well and we have a hat-trick!
Australian Sailor and His Dog Survive Two Months at Sea
Sydney resident Tim Shaddock, 51, and his dog Bella left Mexico for French Polynesia in April, but their boat was damaged by a storm several weeks later. They were rescued by a trawler this week after drifting for two months in the Pacific Ocean.
Tim said he and Bella survived by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater.
